Victorian community dance awards

2014 is the first year of the Victorian Community Dance Awards and the member response has been most enthusiastic! Nominations are open to the public and can be made via Facebook or email. Nominations for this year have closed but voting is open until 3 November.

All nominees must be Ausdance members and must live in Victoria.

The winners are voted on by the public using a survey monkey voting system.

The Victorian dance awards event will be held in Melbourne in December.

Categories this year are:

  • Favourite Dance Videographer
  • Favourite Dance Video Clip
  • Favourite Dance Studio Teacher
  • Favourite Dance Photographer
  • Favourite Lighting Designer
  • Favourite Costume Designer
  • Favourite Choreographer
  • Favourite Dance Producer
  • Favourite Male Dancer
  • Favourite Female Dancer
  • Best Instagram Shot
  • Best Dance Event
  • Best Dance Publication
  • Service to Dance

These categories will evolve and change over time in response to public demand.

Western Australian dance awards

The WA Dance Awards  were initiated by Ausdance WA in 2005 to acknowledge outstanding achievement in dance from all regions of Western Australia. Ausdance WA convenes a committee of judges to vote for the winners. The presention and celebration event is held in November each year.

The winner of each award category receives a trophy and is automatically nominated by Ausdance WA for the Australian Dance Awards, where corresponding categories for both events exist.

The categories are:

  • Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer
  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer
  • Outstanding Achievement in Choreography
  • Award for Services to Dance
  • Outstanding Achievement in Teaching
  • Award for Design and/or Composition in Dance
  • Award for Emerging Artist
  • Outstanding Achievement in Youth or Community Dance
  • People's Choice Award for Best Production
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
