Kristina Chan receives the Peggy van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship

Kristina Chan. 2017 Ausdance National Peggy van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship recipient

Congratulations to Kristina Chan who received the Ausdance National Peggy van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship at the 2017 Australian Dance Awards on Sunday 24 September 2017.

The PvP Choreographic Fellowship of $10,000 is awarded every two years to a mid-career choreographer, 35 years or over, with at least 10 years’ professional experience working as a choreographer.

'I am absolutely honoured to be the recipient of the Peggy van Praagh Fellowship', said Kristina.

'This fellowship will assist me in extending my dance practice—both physically and choreographically. I will travel to Japan to participate in intensive Butoh training workshops across the country. I will also attend art festivals and performances, and engage with local artists in a hope to make connections for possible future collaborations.

'I am excited to immerse myself in Butoh practice and the culture that Japan offers.

'A huge thank you to Ausdance National, the selection panel and the trustees of Peggy van Praagh’s estate for continuing her legacy and advocacy for dance. I would also like to thank Martin del Amo and Kate Champion for supporting me in this application.'
