Dancers, makers, researchers, writers, directors, producers, advocates and educators participate in discussions about the inherent concerns and realities affecting current professional practice in Australia.

Project Status

Forum partners Ausdance National and Tracks Dance Company will present the fifth National Dance Forum (NDF2019) from 9–10 August 2019 in Darwin, Northern Territory.

The two-day forum, presented alongside the Australian Dance Awards, will provide the national dance community with an opportunity to gather in the unique setting of Darwin.

The NDF is the most significant platform for dialogue across the Australian contemporary dance sector. Dancers, makers, researchers, writers, directors, producers, advocates and educators take part in discussions about the inherent concerns and realities affecting current professional practice in Australia. 

It is an immersive, participatory experience, offering delegates a rich and valuable opportunity to inspire new ideas and refresh existing ones in an environment tailored to complement the unique qualities of the dance sector.

The NDF2019 will be developed in consultation with a curatorial panel made up of industry experts. Forums such as these provide an opportunity to bring the sector together and are vital in ensuring sustainable development and vitality of the Australian dance landscape
