Maya Gavish has extensive dance experience as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. In 2015 she was awarded a (PhD) research scholarship by the University of Western Sydney. Her research focuses on implementing cognitive psychology theories and methods to investigate the choreographic process.

Maya has graduated (2013) with a Master degree in dance and education from the Jerusalem Dance and Music Academy as well as the Hebrew University, Israel. She moved to Sydney in 2008 and since then has been lecturing and teaching dance at various tertiary institutions. During this period Maya has also created and restaged numerous dance works for different performances.

In Israel, she taught dance in continuing education programs for teachers, different dance academies and has featured as a dancer in various productions.
