New member of the Dance Board

Good to see Michelle Ryan's recent appointment to the Dance Board of the Australia Council, adding to the practitioner base of the board.

Michelle has more than 20 years' experience as a performer, choreographer, rehearsal director and producer, and was a peer adviser at the board's November 2011 assessment meeting.

Michelle was a performer with Meryl Tankard in Canberra and Adelaide for 7½ years, followed by projects in Europe as Tankard's assistant.

From 2005—2010 Michelle worked at Dancenorth in various capacities including artistic manager, rehearsal director, choreographer and assistant producer. She was a founding member of Splintergroup, and the associate artist and rehearsal director for lawn, roadkill and underneath.

In 2009 Michelle created the dance film Nerve Ending and in 2010 she created Four Short Films About Juanita. She was guest artist in the Brisbane Festival season of Out of Context for Pina by Les Ballets C de la B in 2011, and currently works for National Disability Services Queensland.
